Draft letter to educators, 9/22/2011

We’re writing a book about interdisciplinary graphic design…a sentence or two about that.

For my previous work, see Participate (participatorydesign.net) and zvezdana.stojmirovic.com. For Nancy’s work, see greysignal?

We want to find out about any interdisciplinary projects you may have carried out as educators, whether they be a short exercise, a four-week assignment, or a whole course. How do you approach an interdisciplinary project? We’d love to hear from you.

Further, as the year kicks off and as you already begin to plan for the Spring, we want to encourage you to try interdisciplinary experiments in your classes, as we build knowledge for our book and the profession at large. Give specifics here: small, medium and large exercise. What are the outcomes we’re looking for? Give them something to attach to, but also let them do whatever they want.

Educators:

  • GD faculty at MICA and OSU, maybe even MIAMI (Helen’s school)
  • Mike Weikert
  • Clinton Carlson
  • Nathan Davis
  • Tamara Maletic?
